Introducing a richer seat experience in Spotnana

Choosing the right seat makes a meaningful difference to a traveler’s journey. Travelers want to know where a seat is on the aircraft, what features it offers, and how its experience compares with other options.

To meet the shifting needs of travelers, we’ve enhanced the seat experience in Spotnana to make more information available directly within the air shopping experience.

Through our integration with SeatMaps, Spotnana now provides richer, interactive aircraft seat maps across flight search, checkout, and post-booking trip management, including a mobile-optimized experience, helping travelers make more informed seat choices without leaving Spotnana.

The new experience includes full-aircraft visualizations, richer seat characteristics and imagery, mobile seat selection, and, when available, 360-degree seat views. In collaboration with Lufthansa Group, we’ve also introduced richer airline-specific experiences for Lufthansa Allegris and SWISS Senses on eligible NDC flights.

“I got into the travel industry because I fell in love with the variety of products that airlines offer. Integrating SeatMaps seamlessly across our booking flow gives travelers clarity and confidence in what they’re buying. By bringing a more interactive seat map experience into the shopping journey, we’re helping travelers better understand their options—and get excited for their flight before they step onto the plane.”

See more about your seat before you book

One of the biggest changes is immediately visible during flight shopping. Travelers can now preview the full aircraft seat map directly from flight search, before choosing a fare. Instead of a basic grid, the new experience presents the aircraft in an interactive visual layout, including multiple cabins in a single view.

Consider a traveler booking a last-minute business trip. Two flights may have similar schedules and fares, but a look at the seat map shows that the first option has mostly middle seats or seats toward the back of the aircraft remaining. The traveler can instead consider another fare class or flight with seats that better match their preferences without progressing further in the booking flow before discovering the limited availability.

Seat availability becomes another useful input into the shopping decision, not something travelers discover after they’ve already chosen their flight.

Spotnana’s enhanced experience also provides more context about what a seat is actually like. Depending on the information available for the flight, travelers can explore attributes such as seat pitch, width, recline, extra legroom, storage, power, Wi-Fi, and in-seat entertainment.

SeatMaps provides detailed aircraft layouts, seat characteristics, and rich visual content to help travelers understand the cabin before choosing a seat. Additional 360-degree virtual seat tours from Routehappy, available across select seat types, give travelers an even clearer sense of the onboard experience before booking.

“Choosing a seat should be an exciting part of choosing a flight. By bringing detailed aircraft layouts and richer visual content into Spotnana, we’re giving business travelers a clear picture of what to expect — and even look forward to — onboard before they book.”

Making multi-traveler bookings easier

Selecting seats for multiple travelers can add another layer of complexity to the booking process.

The redesigned experience supports multi-passenger bookings with a passenger roster alongside the seat map. As a seat is assigned, Spotnana automatically advances to the next traveler. Assigned seats show the passenger’s initials directly on the map, making it easier to understand who is sitting where.

Once everyone has a seat, a single confirmation flow summarizes the passenger-to-seat assignments before they are submitted.

For agents and travelers coordinating group trips, this provides a clearer way to manage seat assignments and help keep travelers together.

Bringing Lufthansa Allegris and SWISS Senses into the shopping experience

The enhanced experience also makes it easier for travelers to identify and explore select Lufthansa Group cabin products.

For supported Lufthansa Group NDC content, Spotnana can identify flights featuring Lufthansa Allegris and SWISS Senses during shopping, helping travelers recognize these newer cabin products before selecting their flight.

On supported seat maps, rich media provides additional visual context about the seats themselves. This is especially valuable for premium products, where two seats within the same cabin can offer meaningfully different experiences.

Together, these capabilities help travelers go beyond the cabin name to better understand the onboard experience they’re choosing.

More control throughout the journey

The enhanced experience extends across the travel journey. Travelers can select seats on desktop or in the Spotnana mobile app through a responsive, touch-optimized experience.

To make seat selection even easier, travelers can save preferences such as aisle or window in their profile, and Spotnana will automatically assign an available seat that aligns with those preferences when possible. Travelers can review and change the assigned seat before ticketing. After booking, travelers can return to their trip in Spotnana to see their current seat and, where supported, make changes to their seat selection.

Together, these enhancements bring richer seat information to more points in the travel journey—from evaluating options during flight search to choosing a seat at checkout and managing that choice after booking.

By making seat information available when it’s most useful, Spotnana is giving business travelers more context and control over an important part of their journey.
