Life at Spotnana

How did Finance Controller Saurabh Sanganeria leverage nearly two decades of expertise to help build the compliant financial backbone for Spotnana?

At Spotnana, Saurabh’s primary responsibility is managing the overall finance operations of our India operations. This involves accurate financial reporting, implementing and ensuring compliance with global policies, and handling taxes and other statutory compliance for India.

Ultimately, his goal is to ensure our financial operations are scalable, reliable, secure, and compliant to support our global partners and customers.

Saurabh shared the reasons he joined Spotnana, his experience working on our Finance team, and how his work at Spotnana has resulted in building global relationships and accelerating professional growth.

Can you share your career journey before Spotnana?

“Before joining Spotnana, I spent nearly two decades in corporate finance for B2B SaaS, E-commerce, and FMCG companies. Most recently, I worked as a Finance Controller at a B2B SaaS company in the Employer of Record (EOR) space, where I specialized in ERP implementation, process optimization, financial reporting, and more.

“My career has always been driven by a passion for solving complex financial challenges, improving user experiences, and streamlining global finance operations, which made Spotnana a natural and exciting next step.”

Why did you choose to come work at Spotnana?

“I chose Spotnana for a few key reasons. I found the mission to modernize the infrastructure of the travel industry to be incredibly ambitious. I was drawn to the opportunity to support building a new open travel platform, rather than just iterating on legacy technology.

“Additionally, I was excited about the technological challenge of building a truly global company that’s creating a seamless, consumer-grade user experience for large enterprises.

“Finally, during the interview process, it was clear that the team was smart, passionate, and genuinely committed to building a collaborative culture. Spotnana felt like the perfect place to make a real impact.”

What was your interview experience like at Spotnana?

“My interview experience was very positive. It challenged me, was practical, and felt relevant to the role. What stood out most was the conversational nature of the discussions. I had a two-way dialogue with future colleagues who were genuinely interested in my problem-solving approach. This gave me a great preview of the collaborative and transparent environment at Spotnana.”

What are the goals and philosophy of the Finance team? What is it like to work on your team?

“I love my team. Our team dynamic is built on trust, transparency, and a high degree of ownership. Our philosophy is customer-first always. Our main goal as a Finance team is to be the compliant guardian of our finances, fueling the next chapter of company growth.

“Working on this team is fast-paced and incredibly collaborative. We celebrate our wins together and swarm on problems if they arise. Everyone is approachable and willing to help, which makes tackling challenges more manageable.”

What is something specific that you’ve accomplished at Spotnana that you’re proud of?

“I’m particularly proud of implementing a global expense management solution that our team launched recently. We were tasked with integrating and implementing a global expense solution across all our entities and geographies. I was responsible for working with the cross-functional team, coordinating across time zones, and ensuring legal and tax compliance while implementing this for India.

“It was a complex project with many moving parts, but we rolled it out smoothly.”

How has Spotnana supported your professional development?

“Spotnana has been incredibly supportive. The biggest factor has been the freedom to work remotely. I’ve been given the autonomy to deepen my travel industry knowledge and work with global teams on projects that have stretched my skills.

“Additionally, my manager has been a fantastic mentor, providing regular, constructive feedback that has helped me improve my strategic thinking and technical expertise.”

Can you share how in-person gatherings have shaped your Spotnana experience?

“In-person events like team offsites are invaluable. These gatherings are essential for building personal connections. I’ve found that they effectively blend strategic planning and team-building.

“I leave these offsites with not only a clearer roadmap but also a stronger bond with my colleagues, which makes global collaboration easier and more effective.”

Why is travel important to you? Why work in the travel industry?

“For me, travel is about building empathy, connecting cultures, and creating new business opportunities. It’s one of the most powerful ways to broaden perspectives. Working in the travel industry, especially at an innovative company like Spotnana, feels like I’m directly contributing to that. We’re not just building software. We’re building infrastructure that helps people connect and businesses grow. It’s a mission with a tangible, positive impact.”

What is your favorite thing about working at Spotnana?

“My favorite thing is the people. Everyone here is incredibly talented and driven, but also humble and willing to help. There’s a genuine sense of camaraderie.

“We’re all working together to solve a massive, complex problem, and that shared sense of purpose creates a really special and motivating environment.”
