Spotlight on Vincent Lung: Empowering our travel provider partners

Senior Manager, Engineering Vincent Lung has built software for some of the world’s largest companies. Now, he’s helping to build Spotnana’s modern tech stack for transforming corporate travel.

At Spotnana, Vincent leads the software development team for Spotnana Cloud for travel providers, which helps airlines, hotels, and ground transportation companies launch modern, white-labeled online booking portals for their SMB customers. 

Vincent works closely with Spotnana’s product and content teams to translate each travel provider partner’s brand, content, and specific requirements into a consumer-grade booking experience powered by our platform.

He has delivered several major improvements to the Qantas Business Rewards portal and helped launch Business Access by Marriott Bonvoy, which streamlines onboarding for Marriott’s SMB customers. Beyond delivery, Vincent coaches engineers, partners closely with cross-functional teams, and shapes the technical direction of Spotnana as we continue to scale.

Vincent discussed his experience prior to Spotnana, why he joined, and what it’s like to work here.

Can you share your career journey prior to Spotnana?

“I spent most of my career at Microsoft and Amazon building software across a wide range of domains, including operating systems on tiny smartcard chips, server and mobile device management, fraud detection, supply chain optimization, and customer service operations. 

“That experience gave me a strong foundation. However, I desired more direct customer interaction and the ability to ship new features quickly to meet customer needs. That led me to Charger, a startup where I leveraged my artificial intelligence (AI) background to build an AI copilot for Excel and AI customer service agents. That experience deepened my appreciation for software that solves real, tangible problems, and it eventually drew me to Spotnana.”

Why did you choose to come work at Spotnana?

“I’ve always been curious about the travel industry. Travel impacts us all. As someone who travels for work, I know how clunky travel experiences can be. When I was researching Spotnana, what stood out was the ambition of our mission. The travel industry has been running on legacy technology for decades, and Spotnana is modernizing the foundational infrastructure.

“Coming from larger companies, I’ve worked on plenty of impactful projects. However, the chance to help reshape an entire industry, build on a modern technical stack, and engage directly with customers was the kind of opportunity I wasn’t going to easily find elsewhere. 

“Initially, I worked with Spotnana’s EVP of Engineering Will Arora at Amazon and Charger. His leadership style has always been grounded in strong technical vision, open communication, and high trust. 

“Overall, I joined because of the rare combination of a meaningful technical challenge, a real customer impact, a team doing ground-breaking work, and a trusted leader I’d worked with before.”

What are the dynamics, goals, and philosophy of your team?

“Our team’s goal is to ensure that every traveler has an excellent experience using a solution powered by Spotnana Cloud for travel providers. To achieve this, we work with each travel provider to provide a seamless onboarding experience as well as the ongoing support they need to deliver value to their customers.

“My team is distributed across the United States and Asia, so ownership, open communication, and trust are paramount. Our team moves quickly, surfaces concerns early, and ships reliable software. Our team motto is, ‘Each problem is everyone’s problem.’ When something urgent arises, colleagues jump in to help, regardless of the area they normally own.

“We also invest heavily in AI to move faster. We’ve customized our AI coding tools with deep context about Spotnana’s systems, services, and APIs, which creates an understanding of how the parts of our platform actually fit together. The impact has been real: Investigations that used to take hours often now take minutes.

“Our work aligns closely with Spotnana’s three core values: Build the Future, Commit to Excellence, and Stronger Together.”

Can you share how in-person gatherings have shaped your Spotnana experience?

“I’d heard great things about Converge, our global offsite, but it was bigger and better than I imagined. In November 2025, Spotnana flew hundreds of Spotters to Bangkok for a week of work and fun. Days were filled with sessions on the company vision led by our Founder Sarosh Waghmar and CEO Steve Singh. Additionally, our COO Frank Pelzer and other executive leaders explained what that vision means in practice. Social lunches and dinners let me finally meet colleagues I’d only known on Zoom.”

“My highlight was an informal conversation with one of our principal engineers about decoupling some of our services. A few weeks later, he came back with a new service stack that lets us innovate at a much faster pace. Today, my team is using this to build a portal for a major hotel chain.”

“A second highlight was our team-building treasure hunt. Teams rode tuk tuks across downtown Bangkok to find specific items and landmarks. It was energetic, fun, and a great way to bond with people I’d never worked with directly.

“Nothing can replace direct human interaction. That’s why business travel is integral to the overall success of a company.”

What is your favorite thing about working at Spotnana?

“I have two favorites, and they’re related. The first is direct customer interaction. Because I meet regularly with our travel provider partners, I appreciate a clear view of what they and the wider travel industry are focused on. This helps me prioritize work that delivers immediate value.

“The second is the speed of product impact. At Spotnana, there’s no limit to what I can deliver. It’s exhilarating to see an idea come to fruition in a matter of days and immediately solve customer problems or address traveler pain points. After years at larger companies where impact often took quarters or years to land, that velocity is genuinely energizing.

“At the end of the day, our people make it all possible. The Spotnana team, from my immediate team to my cross-functional colleagues, is able to have one informal conversation and transform how we build something.”

Fun Facts!

• What’s the best trip you ever took? Last year, I explored Berlin and ran the Berlin Marathon. I also visited several cities in Poland before running the Warsaw Marathon. At the Warsaw start line, I lined up next to a group of runners dressed as medieval warriors, complete with spears. I also saw the Wieliczka Salt Mine and enjoyed the local cuisine (I love beets and can drink borscht every day!).
• What’s your favorite thing to do at the airport? Plane spotting, then reading on my Kindle once I’ve found a good window. If it’s a long layover, I’ll head out to see what’s nearby.
• What’s your favorite airplane snack? If I’m lucky, Michel et Augustin dark chocolate cookie squares. I also enjoy Lotus Biscoffs.
• Aisle, middle, or window seat? Aisle.
• What’s your go-to show to watch on a trip? Sci-fi or thriller, especially those directed by Christopher Nolan or Wes Anderson.
• What’s the top destination on your bucket list? Hiking in Argentine Patagonia. The landscapes look unreal, and I’d love to experience it with my family.
