At Spotnana, building direct integrations with travel providers is foundational to our strategy. In my role on the Content and Distribution team, I’m focused on how we can partner with leading airlines to modernize content distribution and deliver seamless, innovative, end-to-end traveler experiences.

Today, I am proud to share the next step in that journey: a strategic partnership with Canada’s largest airline, Air Canada, which provides service directly to more than 180 airports in Canada, the United States, and internationally across six continents.

I am particularly excited about this launch, because Air Canada has a strong reputation for innovation. Having worked in the travel industry for ten years, I’ve admired how forward-thinking Air Canada is. We’re now taking that to another level. In addition to a direct NDC integration, we are also one of the very first to build a direct integration to the Air Canada Flight Pass product.

Revolutionizing the Flight Pass experience

Air Canada’s Flight Pass, a prepaid package of one-way flight credits within a chosen geographic zone, is a favorite among frequent Canadian business travelers for its cost predictability and convenience. Previously, using these credits required manual offline tracking that complicated the booking process.

Now, travelers can view and apply their existing Flight Pass credits seamlessly within Spotnana, and the end-to-end booking flow mirrors the broader Spotnana experience, as travelers can select their seats within the booking flow and automatically earn loyalty points on each Air Canada flight.

Spotnana’s pioneering, seamless integration of Flight Pass is a perfect example of how technology enables better business outcomes. For example, it can be challenging for fully remote or hybrid companies to plan in-person offsites due to fluctuating fares. With Flight Pass integrated into their workflow, companies can plan gatherings in advance with fixed-cost certainty.

When you’re able to avoid lengthy back-and-forth discussion over whether a given trip is worth the investment, travel can seamlessly be used as a critical component of a company’s business strategy.

Unlocking the full potential of NDC

As a perfect complement to our new Air Canada Flight Pass offering, we are also launching a direct integration with Air Canada, which supports its NDC-based offers and capabilities throughout all stages of a trip, from shopping through to servicing. This is available to all eligible Spotnana Cloud for TMC partners.

Here’s a summary of key capabilities available through the NDC integration:

  • Continuous pricing – Access to additional and more attractive price points compared to bookings made via EDIFACT.
  • Negotiated fares – Ability to shop for all retail and private fares, including corporate fares.
  • Personalized shopping experience – Seat maps reflect a traveler’s loyalty status for Aeroplan and partner loyalty programs.
  • Unused credit management – Ability to redeem unused flight credits without agent assistance.
  • Self-service exchanges and cancellations – Travelers can easily change or cancel flights.
  • Synchronized servicing – Allows travelers to be serviced by a travel management company (TMC) using Spotnana, with all parties staying up to date.

Building the future together

“Spotnana delivers the modern, technology-forward infrastructure needed to enable a truly end-to-end corporate travel solution,” said Keith Wallis, Managing Director of Enterprise and Cargo products at Air Canada. “Our partnership allows us to integrate Air Canada’s Flight Pass directly into Spotnana’s Travel-as-a-Service platform, giving corporate travelers seamless access to the full breadth of Air Canada products. Together, we are eliminating friction across booking and servicing to deliver a fully connected, optimal travel experience for corporate customers.”

This partnership reflects our ongoing commitment to delivering the most extensive content at the best available prices. Serving as an innovation partner for Air Canada is a privilege, and we are grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with their team.

We’re excited to keep this momentum going and see where this journey takes us next.
