With Spotnana’s extensive access to rail content across the globe, we make it easier for travelers to book trips via rail – whether that is in the U.S., UK, or Europe. In the Spotnana platform, travelers can view all fares and amenities, add-ons, seat reservation options and seat maps, and complete self-serve cancellations and exchanges.

To add to a company’s travel cost savings, we also offer split tickets for UK rail. This is a feature pioneered by Trainline, enabling a user to split a direct ticket into multiple cheaper tickets, and gain savings as a result.

How Split tickets work

A split ticket saves the traveler money by “splitting” their journey into multiple tickets. Instead of paying for a single ticket from point A to B, they  break their trip into smaller segments. Same train (or trains), same route – just more tickets.

For example, instead of booking a direct ticket from London to Brighton, by selecting a split ticket, the traveler purchases and receives two tickets – one ticket from London to Gatwick Airport and one ticket Gatwick Airport to Brighton. Given it’s the same train, the traveler doesn’t have to exit and reboard; they just have to switch tickets.

Within the Spotnana platform, split tickets are marked with the blue Split ticket icon. When a traveler clicks on a split ticket fare, we display the savings they will receive by booking a split ticket. Travelers can then click on the icon for more details. The details include information on the two (or more) tickets being sold in the split ticket and whether the traveler needs to change trains between tickets.

Understanding your rail savings

To provide insight into your rail savings, the Rail Split Tickets report provides company administrators with real-time analytics about the savings generated by selecting split tickets for rail bookings. Spotnana’s analytics show total rail spend, total savings, savings per split trip, split ticket transaction report, and more.

With more than 2,500 railway stations across the United Kingdom, traveling by rail is a convenient and sustainable option for a growing number of people. We’re excited to offer ways to make rail bookings more economical as well.
