Spotnana welcomes Rubén Leal as Director of Sales

We are excited to welcome Rubén Leal to Spotnana as our new Director of Sales! Rubén brings nearly 20 years of experience in strategic sourcing and travel management to his role at Spotnana.

He has held various leadership roles in the LATAM region at companies such as Procter & Gamble, Pfizer, Walmart, and Netflix in procurement, sourcing, and operations.

Rubén has a deep understanding of travel and expense procurement and operations, having led the development of global strategies for travel programs and managed global airline, hotel, and TMC/OBT RFPs. He is passionate about driving innovation and enhancing traveler experiences.

Rubén shared how his experience with Spotnana at Walmart fueled his desire to join Spotnana, how our values align with his desire to elevate the travel industry, and how he plans to empower customers in his new role.

Why did you decide to join Spotnana?

“I was drawn to Spotnana ever since I was exposed to the product while I was a travel manager at Walmart. That was over four years ago, and even then, I could tell that Spotnana was something very different from what I had seen in my career up to that point. The company’s vision to improve and modernize the infrastructure that has powered the travel industry since the 1960s is precisely what the industry needs. 

“When I met Spotnana Founder Sarosh Waghmar, VP of Revenue and Growth Bill Tillman, and the rest of the Spotnana team at the XNA Airport boardroom during Walmart’s shareholders week, I immediately felt an electric energy from the team. It was evident that they are genuinely committed to challenging the status quo, effectively bringing the industry into the 21st century. I realized that Spotnana was not just about offering another travel solution; it was about redefining how we approach corporate travel altogether.

“Having experienced many frustrations in travel management—where stakeholders often demanded better booking experiences, content access, and real-time reporting capabilities—I recognized that Spotnana was different because it took on the ‘unsexy’ task of, in Sarosh’s words, ‘cleaning the gutter’ first. 

“Joining Spotnana feels like coming full circle, since this opportunity allows me to actively contribute to bringing this revolutionary change to travel programs around the world.”

What mindset do you bring to the role of Director of Sales? 

“I bring a mindset rooted in collaboration, innovation, and proactive problem-solving. I believe in embracing challenges and thinking creatively. My goal is to cultivate an environment where we can provide exceptional value to our customers and help them understand the full potential of a travel program powered by Spotnana’s Travel-as-a-Service platform. I want to foster a culture of trust where every team member feels empowered to contribute their ideas and drive meaningful change.
